Small Business Loan Workshop, including how to develop a winning loan proposal presented by the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Oakland County Business Center is 9 a.m. to noon, Jan. 6. Pre-business research workshop is 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11. This workshop is free, pre-registration is required.
Fundamentals of Starting a Business is 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 13. The fee is $30.
Fundamentals of Writing a Business Plan is 9 a.m. to noon Thursday Jan. 20. The fee is $40, which includes all materials.
Legal & Financial Basics for Small Business is 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 25. This workshop is free, pre-registration is required.
Fundamentals of Marketing Your Business is 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Jan. 26. The fee is $40. No refunds.

Community House offers book discussion

The Community House, 380 South Bates Street, Birmingham, is offering a unique book series which focuses on popular books dealing with the economy. The next book discussion is 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 12. Inforum Annual Auto Show Breakfast, Transforming the Auto Industry into the Destination of Choice for High-Talent Women is 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at Detroit Marriott, Renaissance Center, 400 W. Renaissance Drive, Detroit.
